  • Studio Etiquette

    ● Please arrive on time for your scheduled session.

    ● All sessions are one (1) hour in length.

    ● Please turn all cell phones OFF during class.

    ● We workout barefoot or wear toe/grip socks during class. Regular socks can be slippery and cause injury.

    ● Form fitting clothing is suggested.

    ● Please tie up long hair via ponytail, pigtails or buns as long hair can get caught in the machines.

    ● Should you have any questions feel free to reach out after your session.

    Virtual Class Setup:

    ● When attending virtual classes, please arrive 5 minutes early to address any technical difficulties that may occur.

    ● Please make sure you are in full view of the camera, laying down on the floor, in a horizontal position on your mat. This is a full body workout and it’s best to keep the flow of the class without adjusting your mat.

    ● Please make sure you have room side to side on your floor.

    ● It is suggested that you purchase a small bluetooth speaker to properly hear me since you may be a distance away from your computer.

    ● A laptop is preferred, but a cell phone or iPad will also work.

    ● Please make sure there are no other distractions as you are taking class such as music, TV, people talking, pets in front of the camera, etc.

  • What Do I Wear?

Wear comfortable, close fitting clothing that you can easily move in. Non-slip socks are optional or you can be barefoot. We workout barefoot or wear toe/grip socks during class. Regular socks can be slippery and cause injury.

  • Do I Need Special Equipment?

The studio will provide accessto all mats,  props and equipment. Online classes require a mat or towel. Other props can be purchased for your own use.

  • Apparatus Vs Mat Work

Pilates Mat work is a series of systematically layered exercises that utilize the Mat only, no apparatus. The mat exercise challenges your body. Your body does the work because your weight and gravity are your resistance!

The Apparatuses (Reformer, Cadillac, Tower, Wunda Chair) use adjustable springs and straps to regulate tension and resistance while exercising. The springs and straps provide feedback and support to assist in developing deeper muscles more precisely. The apparatuses offer alternate ways to exercise for those who are unable to lie down on a mat.

  • Online Zoom Classes

Want the challenge of Pilates with added convenience? Try an online class. Classes are an hour long. No special equipment required, just a mat. If you are fortunate enough to have your own apparatus equipment, we can still utilize Zoom.

There are some ground rules for online classes:

    1. Please arrive on time for scheduled class. If you arrive 10 minutes late, you will no longer be allowed to enter the class.  It’s best to arrive 5 minutes before to avoid any technical glitches that may occur.

    2. Please make sure you have a horizontal view setup and that you can hear me. An additional small Bluetooth speaker is always a nice addition.

3.Avoid distractions and make sure your area is clear so that you can move and do not have to keep switching your mat or the view. You will be muted once class gets started to avoid any disturbances.

4.All ZOOM classes must be paid in advance of class.

  • How Often Can I Do Pilates?

You can do Pilates every day! The more you do it, the faster you see results and feel the benefits.

It is a method of exercise from which you need no recovery, like you do with weight training or other sports. An ideal situation is to practice Pilates 3 times a week.

As Joe Pilates said, “In 10 sessions you feel better, in 20 sessions you look better, in 30 sessions you have a completely new body.”

  • What Is the Difference Between Pilates and Yoga?

Pilates focuses on small movements that require the use of important stabilizing muscles of the back and core. There is a strong emphasis on starting each exercise with a controlled breath that initiates a contraction of the core muscles. Pilates can be done on a mat or on specialized equipment.

Mindfulness and deep breathing are key features in a yoga practice. Although there are many different types of yoga, holding various poses and flowing through different series of movements is standard in most classes. Yoga can be seen as a form of mind-body fitness. It combines physical activity and mindful focus. This brings increased awareness to the breath and energy.
